Blending Bollywood Style with Corporate Insight: Author of Creating Digital Excellence Shares His Journey

Presenting a wonderful interview of Ganessh S Iyer,  author of Creating Digital Excellence: 7 key strategies for digital transformation ....✍️

Mumbai. For some, writing a book is a dream sparked by passion. For others, it’s the culmination of years of experience and a desire to share knowledge with the world. For the author of "Creating Digital Excellence: 7 Key Strategies for Digital Transformation," it was a bit of both — with a Bollywood twist. Published through the traditional route, this debut work has already earned accolades from top corporate leaders for its relatable storytelling, practical advice, and engaging narrative style.

In an exclusive conversation, our correspondent spoke with the author about his inspirations, challenges, and the unique way he brings technical topics to life.

Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

Author: I come from a publishing family, so the idea was always there. I have written articles, blogs, and short stories before. But writing a book felt far-fetched until I attended a marketing program that encouraged me to take the leap.

Q: How long did it take you to write a book?

Author: Around nine months. A large part of that time went into securing appointments and conducting interviews with around 20 dignitaries. Compiling those transcripts, highlighting key points, and then weaving them into my storyline was the biggest challenge — but also the most rewarding experience.

Q: What is your work schedule like when you're writing?

Author: My business routine runs from morning until night. Most of my books were written after 10 p.m., sometimes until 5 or 6 in the morning.

Q: What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

Author: I need absolute silence — but with the hum of a fan or air conditioner in the background, even in winter. That consistent low drone creates a meditative white noise that helps me focus completely.

Q: How do books get published?

Author: There are two main ways: self-publishing and the traditional route. I chose the latter, working with a publisher.

Q: Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?

Author: My ideas come straight from the heart — dil se. I’m a hardcore Bollywood fan, so I infused even this technically complex topic with Bollywood-style storytelling. The core themes and structure were in my head from the start, and the examples come from real-life experiences.

Q: What do you like to do when you're not writing?

Author: Working, watching Bollywood films, and reading on topics that interest me.

Q: What does your family think of your writing?

Author: They’re incredibly supportive — my real cheerleaders. My youngest child proudly tells his friends that his dad is a published author.

Q: What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your first book?

Author: The sheer scale of revision and editing. Initially, I wasted time correcting early chapters before finishing the draft, but I learned to push through and edit later. The process was even more dynamic because interviews often gave me new perspectives, requiring me to rethink and rewrite sections to ensure precision and assertiveness.

Q: Do you have any suggestions to help someone become a better writer?

Author: Write with passion and from the heart. Take a short training program under a professional mentor before starting your book. Be sure of your facts and data — the world changes quickly.

Q: Do you hear from your readers much? What do they say?

Author: Yes, and it’s incredibly rewarding. Readers — especially corporate leaders — praise the simplicity, relatability, and conversational style. Some say it’s like watching a Bollywood movie: fun and light at first, then intense and gripping after the “interval.” Many found my benchmarking insights spot-on and appreciated the practical, real-world approach with no unnecessary theory.

Q: Tell us something about your recent book published.

Author: The feedback says it all. When I say “Digital is not just about technology,” it intrigues people — but once they understand my perspective, they see its value. It’s deeply fulfilling when CEOs and founders recommend my book to their leadership teams or invite me to discuss its ideas so they can refine their own processes. My core message is simple: Put the customer at the centre of digital transformation — something many companies miss.

Conclusion:

With Creating Digital Excellence, the author delivers a rare combination of corporate wisdom, practical strategies, and cinematic storytelling flair. His journey reflects both discipline and creativity, offering readers not just information, but an engaging experience that stays with them long after the last page.
